Tobias A. Layman is the potter behind TAL Ceramics, where craftmanship is key.

He has nearly two decades of experience at the wheel, and few things bring him more joy than turning clay into one-of-a-kind pieces for others to use and enjoy. Tobias loves sharing his pottery knowledge and coaching others in the craft.

He also enjoys working with wood and metal, and has years of professional experience in museum exhibit fabrication and studio and gallery management.

Tobias earned a masters of fine arts in sculpture from the University of Alabama. He also has a bachelor of fine arts in ceramics, and a bachelor of arts in costume design from Jacksonville State University in Alabama.

He lives and throws pottery in Nashville, Tennessee. He loves spending time with his family, building Legos and the Boston Red Sox.
